Gippsland Property Valuations is required by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“Privacy Act”) to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles (“APPs”). The types of Personal Information we collect and hold will depend on the circumstances of collection and on the type of service we are providing. Typically, the personal information we collect is limited to what we reasonably require to provide property valuation, consulting and advisory services.

For example, for valuations services, we may collect or receive personal information from the parties involved during the due process including vendors, purchasers, landlords, tenants etc., such as name, contact information including email address, home and office address, telephone and fax numbers, date of birth, gender, marital status, tax file number, driver’s licence number and expiry date, details of employment and/or occupation.

In addition to the types of personal information identified above, Gippsland Property Valuations may collect personal information as otherwise permitted or required by law. As a general rule, we do not collect sensitive information, however if we do it will usually be for the purposes of providing goods and services and if the law requires us to, we will seek your consent to collect it.

When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information.

However, most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.

Gippsland Property Valuations will not charge any fee for your access request, but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information. In order to protect your Personal Information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.

It is an important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete, and up to date.
